Art Post 1: Photography

I spend a good deal of my time on flickr - whether its looking through my contact's work or though the Explore page. I've found so many amazing artists on there that show a passion for their work...some amateur, some professional, and some just sharing their creativity.

Like this woman:

This photo, and the following one, were done by BrookeShaden ...her work inspires me. This second one is part of her Re-Imaging of Ophelia series...and yes, folks...it is a photograph.

the aftermath

Next up is Alexa Sinclair, who is really photographer and digital artist all-in-one. Her work is incredible. This photo is from her Regal Twelve series...see it HERE on her blog. If you go through the photos, you will see my favorite....if you know me at all you will be able to recognize it by the lady's attire :D. I didn't post it here because it's obviously NSFW. This one is also a favorite.....Archer!! lol

Christina of Sweden - The Androgynous Queen

Then we have Anna Gay (I swear, there are some guy photogs that I like, lol). I can't share her photos here, and I will not save to my computer...so you will have to trust me and go check out her flickr page :).

Next up: Mr. Flibble . He cracks me up.

221/365: My death curing experiments haven't exactly been a resounding success

102/365: New Shoes!

A Daddy-Photog: JWLPhotography. He creates incredible portraits of his daughters.

I'll show some more tomorrow. Once I started with this post I realize how many I want to share and I guess its good I have a month to fill, lol.

Art is Intense

I saw that NaBloPoMo's theme for this month was Art and I made a decision to join...I was excited about it. But what did I do? I forgot to post anything yesterday. Ugh. So I'm starting today and I will give my most valiant effort to post every day about art for the rest of this month.

First things - I consider myself an artist. I am a photographer, or at least I like to call myself one. I'm a writer, I love to sing, I even love to paint...but, since I can't draw, its usually just crazy painted lines on a canvas or piece of paper. I love to design houses...yes, I consider architecture art.

Seeing the things that others have created with an image in their minds always amazes me. Whether its lines of poetry or lines of a cathedral, it first came from a thought and these amazing people turned it into a reality. Their reality then makes us cry, gasp, stare in wonder, laugh...intense emotions sometimes, that stay with us long after the creation is gone from our vision.

Every day, I intend to showcase an artist from a different medium...someone that has spoken to me on some level. I hope you enjoy and I hope that my favorites can inspire you, as they have inspired me.

Jeminy Crickets!

Sooo....Hi. *waves sheepishly*

Let's dive right to the self-pity, shall we? I'm a goober...blah blah blah.

Ok, now that's over let's get on to something a bit more fun.

There is a trailer park beside ours that had a drug raid today. My son was sitting on a pole sticking out of the ground...by the fire hydrant...watching...wearing a Spiderman outfit that has more holes in it than swiss cheese. He was kinda giddy when the woman got put in the cop car - yes folks, on an average day my life is that boring. I was kinda giddy too. Or maybe I was just giddy because I actually had 2 neighbors on my porch watching the whole thing with me. Both knew the girl getting arrested - and were gossiping about everyone and their cousin.

HOLY CRAP - I live in a REAL trailer park!! Is it sad that I think its cool and amusing to kinda be included in it all? At least they weren't talking about me, right?

New project - like I needed another reason to smack myself in the forehead on a daily basis.
I....startedanotherblog....
NaBloPoMo is doing this monthly themes thing - and July is food. So, in an effort to show how much food is a part of my life (grrrrr) I decided "Hey, why not blog about it too?" Makes sense, right?
However, I'm going to try to put it to good use as well. My first post is about me being a picky eater and in that spirit I'm going to try to post healthy recipes for picky eaters throughout the month. (is throughout supposed to be one word or 2?)
I typed in a search for 'healthy recipes for picky eaters' - and they were all geared towards kids. This is NOT starting out well for me, lol.

Wish me luck. Oh...and the blog is at http://kendranablo.blogspot.com/. Come check it out and feel free to say hi. Also, sharing stories of your own pickiness - or picky kids - is very welcome.

(If any of you peeps could give me a shout out in the comments section it sure would give me a boost. Been feeling kinda down lately - not over there...here....the home-blog. Ok..its sad...I'm begging for blog-love. I...am...pathetic, lol.)

Busy April

Since I'm completely and utterly insane, I've decided to take part in the NaBloPoMo theme for April, which is letters. I plan to do it from the standpoint of a photographer capturing letters that I come across daily. I could be a phrase, a single 'letter'...I'm not entirely sure yet, but its kinda exciting.
While I have many 'writing' challenges right now I was looking for, and needing, a photography project that would cause me to take photos of my surroundings. I have the 365 project, which focuses on me...I wanted more of an 'objects' project - no I have it.
I don't promise the work of a genius...but if I learn just one thing it will be completely worth it :)

Day 1/365 - I'm insane

I was in my room watching tv when it hit me that today is the first day of Blog365. Yeee-haw!
Ok, so I wasn't that excited when I remembered...but its a new challenge for me this year.

Last night I played Uno Attack with Sean, Jenn and Chad until about 11:15...then watched tv by myself until a minute to midnight. Sean came into the living room and we had a half-glass of Fu-ki each as the ball dropped in Times Square.

Sunday Sean and I completely changed our room around...and I actually like being in there now. It doesn't seem like a jail cell anymore. Its a nice change from the last 7 months.

Today was...nice. We were all home, had breakfast at 1:00, and Sean helped Jenn and Chad clean out the extra room for Big H. He now has his own room, complete with tv, radio and motorcycle posters. He's in heaven :).

The weather has dropped outside..and I am seriously considering the idea that I should quit smoking...now...so I don't have to go out in the arctic air anymore. Along with my New Year goals, I'd like to mention that the only soda I've had today was 20oz of Diet Coke. BIG change for me. So far, so good.

I hope that everyone had a safe and happy New Year intro.

50/08 and Blog365

I have officially lost my ever-lovin' mind. I have joined 2....um clubs?
In the spirit of NaBloPoMo I have decided to extend it and attempt a full year of posts starting January 1st. I have also signed up to do 50/08 which is reading 50 books during the year of 2008. I attempted this last year and came close but forgot to document it. So I'm going to do better this next year. Just wanted to let you know in case you were interested in joining in. They are both on Ning and I have links to them at the bottom of this page, on the left.

NaBloPoMo Day 26

Man its hard to believe that the month is almost over. I can't believe I've kept up with it either..lol. I'm proud of myself. I even held off going to my mother's house for an extra week so I could finish it. That's dedication :).

With that said, I will be gone from Monday through Saturday next week to visit my mother in Kansas. She had a deep-tissue biopsy done today on her thigh to judge the damage already caused by the lupus. I've not talked to her yet...but if it hurts worse than she anticipated I may be leaving early to go help her out. My worry is that it takes her forever to heal. The year my dad died she broke her foot in 4 places and it took it a YEAR to heal, yet it still gives her problems from time to time. (Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.)

Grrr...

I'm so incredibly angry with myself for realizing so late that I had not posted today. I got caught up in Shrek 3 and trying to photograph my jewelry that I completely spaced it out. Hopefully, I'll have something insightful and witty for tomorrow :).

Wild Packs of Chihuahua's

Ok: My husband works for Harley-Davidson and while at work today he told some guys about the wild packs of chihuahua's that run around Mexico. He got teased no end about it so came home and looked it up. Up until a few moments ago this is all I knew about them: They have been known to travel in packs of 50 or more and would hunt down wild pigs.
Ok, that was enough to make me laugh and I cracked a few jokes like "Imagine the noise 50 chihuahua's would make!"

While outside just now, after realizing I needed to get my blog post in for the day, we started to discuss them and had a laugh about the pack of 50 thing. I said "What?...do they go for the legs first?" He started laughing so hard he nearly toppled the chair over and said "Yes..they...do" (while laughing.)

He then went on to tell me about the rest of the article: They often hunted deer as well and one brave chihuahua would jump up face to face with the deer, thus sacrificing itself to distract the deer so the other chihuahua's could take out its legs. He would die so that the others could eat.
I can not begin to describe how hard we were laughing at this. I nearly peed my pants.
